Rotary Club of Dillibazar Organizes School-Level Poetry Competition


Kathmandu, August 20 –
The Rotary Club of Dillibazar–Kathmandu successfully organized an on-the-spot poetry competition among secondary-level students under Rotary’s Basic Education and Literacy program.

The event was chaired by Club President Prem Kumar Wali, with Laxman Gamnage, Chairperson of Sisnopani Nepal, serving as the Chief Guest. The panel of judges included literary figures and professors Bamdev Sharma, Raghunath Adhikari, and Punya Acharya.

Special guests included IPP Sagarnidhi Tiwari, Past President Dr. Parthiveshwor Timilsina, Past President Punya Prasad Poudel, Past President Samjhana Pokharel, past President Indra Shekhar Khadka ,Past President Indira Poudel, Secretary Sandhya Rajbhandari, and Rotarian Bishnu Parajuli.

A total of 20 students from seven schools across the Kathmandu Valley participated in the competition. Among them, Anshu Sharma from HEMS School secured first place, Sehana Rajbhandari from Akshar Academy came second, and Aditya Gajurel from Little Flower School stood third. Similarly, consolation prizes were awarded to Sajana Khanal, Gaurav Poudel, Pranjal Nepal, and Anirudra Baral.

The first-place winner received a cash prize of Rs. 3,000 and a certificate, the second-place winner Rs. 2,000 and a certificate, and the third-place winner Rs. 1,000 and a certificate. The four consolation prize winners each received Rs. 500 along with certificates.

Past President Dr. Parthiveshwor Timilsina delivered the welcome remarks, while Program Coordinator Sujita Adhikari conducted the event. Chief Guest Gamnage praised the students for composing quality poems within a short period and lauded Dillibazar Rotary Club’s literary initiative, noting that it helps foster enthusiasm, interest, and talent in literature among students.

Adding charm to the program, the Chief Guest along with guests Punya Acharya, Bamdev Sharma, and Sagarnidhi Tiwari also recited their poems. The program concluded with certificate distribution to all participating students.
