Rotary’s AI Special Program Concluded
Kathmandu:
A special Inter-Club Meeting (ICM) on Artificial Intelligence (AI) was successfully
organized by the Rotary Club of Kasthamandap, in collaboration with the Rotary
Club of Dillibazar and several other Rotary clubs. The event, centered on one
of the most relevant and trending topics of the present time—AI—was held at
Hotel Radisson in Kathmandu.
The program was graced by District Governor
Binod Koirala of Rotary International District 3292 as the Chief Guest. The
event also witnessed the distinguished presence of several Past District
Governors as special guests, adding further prestige to the program.
The keynote presentation was delivered by AI
Engineer Bihan Rana, who provided an in-depth overview of artificial
intelligence, including its current status, applications, opportunities, and
challenges. He elaborated on the growing influence of AI in today’s world, the
transformation it is bringing across various sectors, and the potential risks
associated with its misuse.
In particular, he highlighted that AI could
significantly impact employment in the future, affecting a wide range of
professions including doctors and engineers. He emphasized the need for
individuals to prepare themselves for this technological shift by developing
new skills and adapting to the rapidly evolving digital landscape.
The two-hour-long program saw enthusiastic
participation from around 170 Rotarians representing 35 Rotary clubs.
Participants attentively followed the presentation, and an interactive session
was conducted at the end, allowing attendees to engage directly with the expert
and clarify their queries.
From the Rotary Club of Dillibazar, President
Prem Oli, Past President Mohan Krishna Shrestha, Past President Yubaraj
Adhikari, Membership Chair Saurav Pant, Service Project Chair Hari Krishna
Baskota, Media Director Manohari Thapa, Rotarian Shankar Kumar Shrestha, and
spouse Sarita Baskota, among others, actively participated in the program.
