Senior Citizens Health Awareness Program Concluded Successfully
Kathmandu, April 13 , Monday. An impactful and successful health awareness program for senior citizens was organized by the Rotary Club of Dillibazar with the objective of promoting awareness about the health conditions of the elderly. The program was jointly organized with Kathmandu Metropolitan City Ward No. 29 and the Geriatric Society of Nepal, and was held at the ward office hall in Anamnagar.
The event was chaired by Ward Chairperson Kush Dhakal and witnessed the
presence of distinguished personalities from various sectors. At the beginning
of the program, President of Rotary Club of Dillibazar, Prem Oli, delivered the
welcome speech, highlighting the need for greater community responsibility
toward the health of senior citizens.
Chief Guest, Province Assembly Member Dipendra
Shrestha, described senior citizens as valuable assets of society and expressed
his belief that such awareness programs play a vital role in improving their
quality of life. He also emphasized the need for greater attention from the
government and local authorities toward the health and safety of the elderly.
The main highlight of the program was an
interactive health session where expert doctors provided useful information. In
the first session, Dr. Ramesh Poudel explained the proper use, timing, and
methods of taking medicines. In the second session, Dr. Aryal presented on
common diseases affecting senior citizens, their symptoms, causes, and
preventive measures.
As the program was interactive, senior
citizens actively shared their personal health concerns, and the doctors
offered practical and easy-to-understand solutions. Participants expressed that
they greatly benefited from the session.
The program was facilitated by social worker and
Ward Member Santosh Dungel. It was attended by Past President Indira Parajuli,
President-Elect Sujita Adhikari, Secretary Sandhya Rajbhandari from Rotary Club
of Dillibazar, Rotarian Bishnu Prasad Parajuli from Rotary Club of Godawari,
Ward Member Renu Shrestha, and Ward Secretary Shambhu Baral, among others.
At the conclusion, Ward Member Santosh Dungel
expressed gratitude to the medical team, organizing institutions, and all
participants for making the program successful.
Overall,
participants stated that the program was effective in raising awareness about
senior citizens’ health and delivering a positive message to the community.
