Rotary Club of Dillibazar–Kathmandu Conducts Second Free Eye Health Camp

Continuing its commitment to community service and school-level health awareness initiatives, Rotary Club of Dillibazar–Kathmandu successfully organized the second phase of its free eye health camp for students from various public schools in Chandragiri Municipality.

The camp was held at Bishnu Devi Shiksha Sadan Secondary School, located in Ward No. 11, Satungal, Chandragiri Municipality, where approximately 600 students from different schools in the area received free eye examinations. According to the club, the primary objective of the program was to identify vision-related problems among children at an early stage and support their educational as well as personal development.

The organizers also informed that students requiring corrective lenses after the screening will be provided free eyeglasses. The initiative was specially targeted toward students who may otherwise be deprived of proper eye care and vision testing due to financial constraints.

Program Coordinator and Past President Lilanath Sharma stated that the successful implementation of the social initiative was made possible through the valuable collaboration and support of several governmental and non-governmental organizations. According to him, the program was conducted in coordination with GMPT Foundation, Chandragiri Municipality, Chandragiri Hills, BP Koirala Lions Center, Sahaj Foundation, and Kalibhakta Foundation, among others.

The event was attended by Club President Prem Kumar Oli, Past Presidents Dr. Parthiweshwor Timilsina and Indira Parajuli, Rotarian Bishnu Parajuli from Rotary Club of Godawari, and representatives from GMPT Foundation including Gajab Kumari Timilsina, Omkar Timilsina, Bhagwati Ghimire, and Gyanu Poudel.

Similarly, the program witnessed the notable presence of Dr. Prakash Poudel, In-charge of BP Koirala Lions Center, Rotarian Hari Kafle from Sahaj Foundation, Mukundaraj Pant from Kalibhakta Foundation, school Principal Krishna Prasad Parajuli, members of the School Management Committee, teachers, health workers, and school staff.

The club further stated that technical support for the program has been continuously provided by BP Koirala Lions Center. Prior to this, the club had successfully conducted the first phase of the school-level eye health camp at Mangalodaya High School in Thankot on May 18.

Rotary Club of Dillibazar–Kathmandu has expressed its commitment to continuing such humanitarian initiatives related to education, health, and social service in the days ahead.
