School-Level Eye Health Camp Organized by Rotary Club of Dillibazar–Kathmandu Successfully Completed
The Rotary Club of Dillibazar–Kathmandu has successfully completed the first phase of a comprehensive school-level eye health camp conducted under its ongoing eye screening program aimed at improving eye health and identifying vision problems among students studying in public schools within Chandragiri Municipality.
A few months ago, an initial eye
screening program was conducted among approximately 15,000 students from
various public schools across Chandragiri Municipality. During the screening,
nearly 1,500 students were found to have different types of eye-related
problems. Among them, around 800 students underwent detailed eye examinations
by specialist doctors in the first phase of the program.
The eye camp was organized at
Mangalodaya Secondary School, Thankot, where students received vision testing,
identification of eye-related diseases, and necessary medical consultation. The
program witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, parents, and
members of the local community.
The program was attended by Rotary
Club of Dillibazar–Kathmandu President Prem Kumar Oli, Program Coordinator and
Past President Leelanath Sharma, Past President Dr. Parthiweshwor Prasad
Timilsina, Past President Indira Parajuli, Vice President Deepti Singh, spouse
Gajab Kumari Timilsina, Rotarian Bishnu Parajuli from Rotary Club of Godawari,
Rotarian Hari Kafle from Rotary Club of Tripureshwor, as well as the Principal
of Mangalodaya Secondary School.
Similarly, a specialist medical team
from BP Koirala Lions Center, led by Prakash Poudel, was deployed to conduct
the eye examinations of the students.
Program Coordinator and Past
President Leelanath Sharma informed that students requiring eyeglasses due to
vision problems would be provided free spectacles by the Rotary Club of
Dillibazar–Kathmandu. He emphasized the importance of timely eye examinations
by linking children’s education with their overall health and well-being.
According to the organizers, this
important social and health-related program received valuable support,
cooperation, and collaboration from Chandragiri Municipality, GMPT Foundation,
Sahaj Foundation, Kalibhakta Foundation, BP Koirala Lions Center, and
Chandragiri Hills.
The Rotary Club of
Dillibazar–Kathmandu also expressed its commitment to continuing such social
initiatives related to health, education, and child welfare at the school level
in the coming days.
